Alex — Bendigo Cloud Solutions

Hi, I'm Alex.

I help Australian businesses fix the systems that are quietly costing them time, money, and frustration, without the agency markup or the offshore handoffs.

When you work with me, you work with me. Not a project manager who relays messages to a developer you'll never meet, or a faceless corporation in a bigger city. I am a local business owner and keen to grow other local businesses.

Why I started this

I've worked in a wide range of organisations including:

  • As a sole-trader
  • Small business
  • Corporate multinational
  • Public sector

Businesses of all sizes are paying for software they don't need or don't fully utilise. Spreadsheets are doing work that no spreadsheet should be doing. And the people responsible for fixing it either aren't local, aren't affordable, or aren't interested in a job that isn't large enough to be exciting.

Regional businesses get underserved. The big consultancies don't drive to Bendigo for a small engagement. The offshore freelancers are cheap but carry real risks: data leaving Australia, no accountability when something breaks at 8am on a Monday, no one to call who actually knows your setup.

Then came the AI wave, and with it a flood of vendors promising to transform your business for a monthly subscription fee. Some of it is useful. Most of it is a chatbot with a logo on it, solving problems you don't have while the ones you do have keep getting ignored.

I started Bendigo Cloud Solutions because the answer for most small businesses isn't a smarter AI tool. It's fixing the fundamentals that have been broken for years. Practical, local, accountable: the kind of working relationship where I have a stake in getting it right, because my name is attached to it in the same community where you do business.

How I work

A few things that are worth knowing before we talk.

You deal with one person

There's no team behind me taking on work I'll quietly delegate. When I take on a project, I do it. That means slower capacity but higher care and you always know who to call.

Your data stays yours

I'm not reselling access to your business data, feeding it to platforms you haven't consented to, or cutting corners on privacy. Your data doesn't need to leave your control to get the job done.

No lock-in, no mystery pricing

My rates are published. I don't hide pricing behind a "let's have a discovery call" wall. And I don't build systems that only I can maintain. You own what I build, and I'll hand it over cleanly if you ever need to move on.

A plain-English note on data security

At a recent federal government backed AI event I attended, data security was the question on every SME owner's mind. Here's how I handle data security.

I tell you what's running and where

Before any automation or AI tool touches your business data, I explain what it does, where your data goes, and who can see it. You decide, not me, and not a terms-of-service buried in a vendor's footer.

Local-first where it matters

Many automation tasks can be run entirely on your own machine or server. For sensitive data (staff records, financial data, client information), I default to solutions that keep everything on Australian soil or (if possible) on your own infrastructure.

Privacy Act compliance isn't optional

If your business handles personal information about customers or staff, the Australian Privacy Act applies to how you process that data, including any automation tools you use. I build with compliance in mind, not as an afterthought.

I'm not a platform — I'm a person

SaaS vendors have thousands of clients and legal teams. I have a reputation in Bendigo. If something goes wrong with how I've handled your data, I'm reachable, identifiable, and professionally accountable in a way no offshore platform ever could be.

Currently taking early clients

I'm selectively working with a small number of businesses right now. Because I'm at an early stage, every project gets treated as a reputation-builder, which means you get more care and attention than you would from a business running ten projects at once.

If you've been referred to me, or you read something I wrote that resonated, let's have a conversation. Just a straightforward chat about what you're dealing with and whether I can help.
