Almost never. I work on a staging copy of your site and only switch over when everything is tested and approved. Downtime is usually limited to a few minutes during final DNS propagation.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. After the upgrade, updating content is usually much easier than before. I can also set up a simple content management system if your current one is too difficult to use.

How much will it cost to upgrade my site?
